Three New Dissemination Videos Showcase the RECALL Project’s Central European Collaboration
The RECALL Project has recently released three new dissemination videos, offering insights into its unique international academic collaboration. Featuring contributions from Hungarian, Polish, and Czech perspectives, these videos highlight how universities from across Central Europe are working together to explore shared sites of historical memory.
1. A Cross-Border Academic Journey Through Historical Memory – ReCall Project from Hungarian Perspective – Dániel Bagi, Professor, Head of Department of Eastern and Central European History and Historical Russistics, Eötvös Loránd University (HU)
In the first video, Professor Dániel Bagi of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) introduces the project as an academic and educational partnership between ELTE, Masaryk University in Brno, and the University of Wrocław. The project focuses on identifying, cataloguing, and integrating memory sites connected to the shared history of Central Europe. Supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, the RECALL Project combines research and education, involving students directly in the creation of educational materials and academic courses designed around the concept of cultural memory.
2. Understanding History Across Borders – ReCall Project from Polish Perspective – Jakub Węglorz, Institute of History, University of Wrocław (PL)
The second video presents the Polish perspective through Jakub Węglorz from the University of Wrocław. He emphasizes the project’s role in enhancing international academic cooperation, not only between researchers but also through active student participation. By engaging students in research and educational activities, the project fosters an understanding of different historical narratives and memory cultures across Central and Eastern Europe. Students are not passive recipients but active contributors, learning to navigate diverse historiographical approaches and building academic networks that support future collaborations.
3. From Skepticism to Community: A Journey Through the ReCall Project – ReCall Project from Czech Perspective – Jiří Němec, Associate Professtor, Institute of History, Masaryk University (CZ)
Finally, in the third video, Jiří Němec of Masaryk University shares the Czech experience of the RECALL Project. Reflecting on initial skepticism, he describes how the project successfully created a framework for cooperation among students and academics from different countries. The project encourages collaboration beyond national boundaries, fostering a sense of Central European community and introducing new forms of academic interaction rarely found in traditional university education.
Together, these three videos capture the essence of the RECALL Project’s mission: building bridges between universities, countries, and historical narratives to create shared understanding and innovative educational resources. The videos are now available as part of the project’s dissemination efforts, bringing the work of this unique international collaboration to a wider audience.
